COACH-IN-TRAINING COURSE
Gain experience in a supervisory role within Circus Arts.
The Coach-In-Training (CIT) Course is designed for teens and young adults, providing a fantastic entry point into supervisory roles within Circus Arts. This course aims to equip new coaches with essential skills in safety, group management, age-appropriate activities, leading warm-ups and cool-downs, and teaching and supervising games and fundamental skills.
Throughout the five-week program, participants will be evaluated on eight key outcomes, with training sessions running 2 hours per week:
- Teaching safety rules
- Leading groups in and out of the circus, and from event to event
- Leading cool-down stretches
- Leading warm-up stretches
- Explaining and supervising a warm-up game
- Teaching an event-specific game (x2)
- Teaching a fundamental skill (x2)
- Creating and teaching a routine
During the training phase, Coaches-In-Training will work closely with a qualified coach, gaining confidence and experience in leading groups, and learning to implement safe, positive, and fun activities in the circus environment.
Upon successful completion of this course, candidates will be eligible to participate in event-specific coach training courses, progressing towards becoming a qualified coach. This certification will enable them to apply for positions with Circus Arts and lead their own groups.
